Stephen is originally from Teesside and now lives in Whitley Bay, having joined Transcendit in 2017. Stephen used to be a research Postdoctoral fellow, investigating neurodegenerative diseases using stem cells. After using computer programs to mine data, he developed an interest in coding. Stephen graduated from the Open University with a First in Computing, and after looking after his kids for a couple of years he started his career in IT.

When he's not programming, Stephen likes reading, particularly history and sci-fi. He loves playing video games, his favourite being X-Com, and board games, his least favourite being the Game of Life (which his daughter loves). He used to enjoy long hikes, but has got used to doing shorter, more child-friendly walks in the Lake District, Cornwall and Scotland.
