Do you want to work with people who look beyond business and aim to give something back to the community?

We do, and are proud to, support local charities and events. In particular we are supporters of the Children's Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.

It has been a N(M)ovember to remember!  For the month of November seven members of the Transcendit team grew moustaches to raise money for testicular and prostate cancer initiatives.  Clients and family members throughout Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, Durham and as far afield as Canada kindly donated £789 towards this good cause.  At present we are unsure if our team provide a higher quality of IT Support services with or without a moustache.  Only time will tell...

Walbottle Blues

Transcendit are proud sponsors of the Walbottle Blues Under 8 who started their season with an impressive win: 9 - 3.

Best of luck to them for the rest of the season and we hope they carry on with similar results...

Moon Walk Edinburgh 2012

The Edinburgh MoonWalk is now an established annual event organised by the Walk the Walk charity, which is all about raising money for breast cancer related projects and research. This year the event took place on 9th June and Transcendit were very pleased to sponsor Gill Milne and her team (Viv, Verity and Sarah) as they completed the half marathon in torrential rain wearing their beautifully decorated bras! All 4 ladies were motivated by knowing close friends, relatives and colleagues who have suffered from breast and other cancers. Gill, a Transcendit shareholder (and Tom's wife), had persuaded the whole family to marshall at previous Walk the Walk events, as well speed-walking the Great North Run, accompanied by Verity, for the cause. So we felt it was about time we helped as well.

Fundraising for CHUF

The Children's Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) is a charity close to Transcendit's heart as it was founded in 1979 by Anne Scott, mother of Transcendit Director Dave. It was formed after the death of Dave's sister Lesley Anne who was born with the same congenital heart defect that had claimed the life of her sister, and Anne’s first daughter, Lisa.

CHUF aims to keep the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle at the forefront of children’s cardiac care. It raises money to buy equipment, facilities, childcare, pay salaries and fund research for the Children’s Heart Unit and PICU. Funds go towards helping the doctors, nurses and carers give the best care for the children and their families.

We show our support by making regular donations, attending and supporting fundraising events! Tom Tinsley has run the Great North Run (GNR) several times and Transcendit have also supplied the vest for all the CHUF GNR runners. In 2010 we had the pleasure of raising nearly £2,500 for CHUF whilst having fun celebrating Transcendit's 10th Anniversary.

Helen Walks for MacMillan Cancer Support

On Mother’s Day, 3rd April 2011, Transcendit's Helen Littlewood completed a sponsored 11 mile walk for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of a friend who died of cancer in 2009. Towards the end the Macmillan nurses were amazing and convinced Helen that this was such a worthy cause.

Transcendit Supporting Webdurance

On the 15th and 16th July 2010, Transcendit’s very own Lee Irving, Luke Brown and Paul Callaghan took part in the 24-hour website build, Webdurance. Volunteer web programmers, designers and writers were locked up in a room and challenged to create new websites for regional charities.

Baobab Health

Lee Irving deserves a special mention as a technical contributor to the BAOBAB Health project.

Baobab Health Trust is a Malawian NGO that finds technological solutions to healthcare challenges in Malawi. It does so by developing software, installed on touchscreens, that is used in hospitals and clinics around the country. These touchscreens help healthcare workers to register patients and aggregate essential treatment-related data.

More importantly, Baobab systems allow nurses more time to spend with their patients, as tasks like patient registration can be taken over by clerks, rather than healthcare personnel.

Sport and Sponsorship

Transcendit has always taken pride in sponsoring a junior football team. Initially based in Newburn in the west of Newcastle upon Tyne, we chose Newburn Juniors and supported one of their teams until 2009. The teams were very successful, winning several cups and promotions.

From 2010/11 season to date we have a sponsorship arrangement with a very young team at Whickham Fellside Youth Football Club. They will be in the Under 9 age group in the 2012/13 season and we wish them well and hope to get to some of their games this year.
