Don't care about cookies? Turn annoying banners, pop ups and adverts off for good

Are you getting frustrated by cookie banners on websites? Those little pop ups that remind you that yes, this site is collecting cookies and would you like to a) accept these cookies or b) leave the website? Luckily, our tech savvy team have found a great way to turn those annoying banners off for good - as well as annoying pop ups and adverts in the process.

Step one - sort out your browser settings

This is a great little way of stopping those banners getting onto your screen. First, head to your browser settings. If you’re using Chrome you’ll need to go to the ‘Advanced Settings’ section, and then scroll to ‘Site Settings’ and then ‘Notifications’. There’s a slider at the top - just switch that to ‘Block’.

For Firefox, you’ll need to head to ‘About’ then ‘Preferences’, followed by ‘Privacy’. If you click ‘Settings’ next to Notifications, you’ll be able to tick ‘Block Notifications’. This will disable notification popups.

Step two - add an extension to get rid of those cookie banners

First, go to ‘I don’t care about cookies’ {https://www.i-dont-care-about-cookies.eu/} If you scroll down past the ‘Why do I need it’ section (although feel free to give this a read for a little bit of background as to why these pop ups are everywhere now), you’ll see a few icons for each of the major web browsers.

Just click the browser that you’re using and you’ll be taken to the associated extension page, and you can add the ‘I don’t care about cookies’ extension.

Step three - add another extension to get rid of pop ups

But what about those pop-ups that ask you to turn off ad blockers? Well, we’ve got an extension to combat those too. Head to ‘Poper Blocker’ (https://poperblocker.com/). The site should be able to tell which browser you’re using, in which case you can just click the ‘Add Poper Blocker’ button to be take to the associated extension page, and add the extension just as before.

If for whatever reason it doesn’t, do a quick web search for ‘Poper Blocker’ followed by the browser you’re using - ‘Poper Blocker Firefox’ for example.

Step four - add one more to get rid of YouTube adverts

We’ve even got a way for you to get rid of those awful interrupting YouTube adverts. Our old favourite, AdBlock Plus, is a great solution to these (it also gets rid of adverts on Spotify web player if you’re using the free version).  Head to AdBlock Plus (https://adblockplus.org/) and as with Poper Blocker, you should see a clever little button that coincides with the browser you’re using.

Add this extension and you can wave goodbye to YouTube adverts - chain watch to your heart’s content. We won’t tell anyone.

The Transcendit Way

Transcendit understand that when you choose to work with us, whether we're taking care of your IT, app or web development, you're trusting us with part of your business. So whether we're looking after your computers, phone systems or servers we always do things 'the Transcendit way'.

The whole of our team adhere to the same values, beliefs and policies - the principles that were written when Transcendit first formed in 2000. Whether you come to us for cloud services or recovery backup you can be confident that you'll always receive the same excellent service.

The Transcendit way outlines how we do business; following the same straightforward principles with every client and customer, regardless of how big or small they may be.

That means we get to know you and your business. We offer you a friendly, professional and efficient service, and we'll always be honest with you.
We understand that not everybody speaks fluent IT, so we try to explain things in a way that is simple and clear. We always spend as much time as is necessary explaining things to you.
If you need to talk to us about something, no matter how insignificant, we are only ever a phone call away – and we’re never too busy to make you a cup of tea and have a sit down with you in person.
We understand how frustrating it can be when things are late. When we schedule an appointment with you, we are there when you’re expecting us. If something prevents us from getting there, we always call you in advance to let you know.
Sometimes things can go wrong, but we never lie to you or try to cover something up. If things go askew we tell you what’s happened and how we plan to prevent it affecting your business.
We want you to continuously benefit from working with us. We regularly discuss your business and make suggestions for improving systems and processes wherever we can – but we never try to push you into a purchase.
When we quote a fixed price, that's always the amount we charge – you won’t find any nasty surprises on a bill from us. If you are paying by time and materials, we inform you if our approximations could change.
We understand the importance of privacy for your business and your customers. We respect the confidentiality of your data, and we will never pass on your information to third parties.
We appreciate it when you take the time to give us feedback. A system called CustomerSure records our client's responses, so you can trust that our reviews are from real people.

As ever, the most patient, understanding and effective support one could ask for. Simon Stewart, Trinity Chambers
