The weather is set to be absolutely scorching, and if you spent last year’s summer months sweating, melting and wishing for winter, it might be time to make a change. We’ve found four ways of keeping cool that will get you through the next couple of months.
A desk fan might seem like an obvious choice when you’re trying to stay cool at work, but our research suggests that Vornado is the best option. The 133 Compact Air Circulator is all of the Vornado brand’s cooling expertise in a small package, perfect for those who just need a little more air flow to get them through a hot summer’s day in the office. It has multi-directional air flow, so you can cool the rest of your workmates if you can bring yourself to share.
For those who would rather overheat than listen to the continuous hum of a fan for 8 hours, don’t worry; the Vornado 133 Compact Air Circulator is ‘whisper quiet’.
You might be fine in this weather, but have you checked the temperature of your laptop recently? If you’ve noticed that your device seems to be significantly contributing to the heatwave at your desk, the GT500 Notebook Cooler Cooling Stand is a great option. It’s compatible with HP, Lenovo, ASUS, MSI and Alienware devices, and works for laptops up to 17.3 inches. It includes an industrial-grade turbo fan that can reach 5000 RPM.
Before you purchase, make sure that your laptop is compatible; to use this cooling stand you’ll need cooling or ventilation holes in the bottom of your device.
This little gadget is perfect for those who often find themselves overheating, and can’t hear about another recommendation for a desk fan. The Coolify Cyber Air Conditioner sits around the back of your neck, and according to manufacturer Torras, provides ‘instant, powerful cooling’. In the space of a second, the device cools to 16 degrees, and you can even adjust the air vents so that you’re feeling the cooling impact of this gadget across your face, neck, or a combination of these.
For a personal, wearable air conditioner, it doesn’t look as bulky or strange as you might imagine. It’s also completely bladeless, which feels important for something going around your neck.
This little air conditioner is an investment, but if you can’t get to sleep in this weather then it’s probably an investment worth making. The Pinguino Compact is a portable air conditioner, and is absolutely what houses in the UK need during the blistering weather. It has three fan speeds, an LCD display with a 24 hour timer and a thermostat. Again, there won’t be any noise complaints; there’s a 50% noise reduction from maximum to minimum speed, so you don’t need to decide between hot weather and humming.
If that hasn’t convinced you, it also has a dehumidifying feature that can hold 21 litres a day, and an energy efficiency rating of A. Get cool, and get to bed.
